LONG BEACH, CA - APRIL 2: Stéphane Sarrazin (FRA), racing for Venturi Formula E Team, took second place at the 2016 FIA Formula E Long Beach Grand Prix.

It was a beautiful day for the Faraday Future Formula E Grand Prix in Long Beach, CA.  Brazillian Lucas di Grassi took first place on the podium driving for the ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport team.  Di Grassi clinched first place over French racer, Stéphane Sarrrazin by 0.787 of a second, and his teammate, Daniel Abt.  
The win in Long Beach puts Di Grassi into second place overall behind Swiss racer Sébastien Buemi of Renault e.Dams.  Buemi suffered a crash early on, and finished in 16th place.

LONG BEACH, CA - APRIL 2:  Daniel Abt (GER) of team ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport, finished in third place on the podium of the 2016 FIA Formula E Long Beach Grand Prix.Formula E is a shorter race than auto sports, lasting less than an hour, and only 41 laps.  The FIA Formula E Championship is the world’s first fully electric racing series featuring single-seater, open-wheel cars where nine two-car teams compete in the championship.  All 18 chassis are identical, producing 200 kw max power and a top speed of 225 km/hour The noise level is minimal, and there is no need for ear plugs and the like.  Additionally, fans get to participate in the actual race via FanBoost where fans can give their favorite driver an extra speed boost by voting for them at fanboost.fiaformulae.com.  The three drivers with the most votes will each receive one five-second ‘power boost’ per car, temporarily increasing their car’s power.   Drivers finishing in the top 10 are awarded points that affect their overall standings.  Simona De Silvestro, who finished 9th, is the first female driver to score points in a Formula E.

LONG BEACH, CA - APRIL 2:   Actors Glen Powell, Austin Stillwell, and Clifton Collins Jr. get some one-on-one time in the garage with the 2015 champion, Nelson Piquet Jr. (BRA). While there were no ticket sales during the inaugural 2015 year, 2016 was different.  For $35, there were all day activities that included qualifying races, autograph sessions,  electric Go-Kart celebrity racing along with food, entertainment and demos in the eVillage.   An additional $10 added access to the garage areas.  Attendees were also able to view the FFZERO1 Concept Car that  was on display for the first time since the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. attendees to enjoy.
