A 25-year-old Aurora man is scheduled to appear in bond court tomorrow (Thursday) on a felony charge that he threatened a Cook County Circuit Court Judge, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.

On the night of March 7, an unknown male caller left a voicemail on a public defender’s phone at the Courthouse on W. Belmont Avenue indicating that he wishes for the death and destruction of the judge who presided over his case. He also expressed a desire to take revenge on the judge.

During the investigation, Sheriff’s Judicial Security Unit investigators learned the call came from a cell phone that later was determined to have belonged to Alexander Wood, of the 900 block of Oakland Lane. Wood, however, has been known to stay at extended-stay hotels.

Wood was sentenced in October 2011 to 18 months probation for making telephone threats to a corporation.

Members of the Cook County Sheriff’s Judicial Security Unit arrested Wood, a computer programmer, at his place of employment in Chicago. He is scheduled to appear at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building on Thursday morning.
